Hi! I'm a software developer and recent graduate of the Computer Science program at
Carleton University. I live in London, Ontario, and am doing work in the computer graphics industry.
Work
I am currently doing graphics plugin development and architecture design for various clients. My last full-time position was at Side Effects Software, where I re-implemented and extended the compiler for our general purpose shading language,
VEX. Previously I worked in the
Carleton Computer Security Lab under Professor
Anil Somayaji as a research assistant, with
Exocortex Technologies designing and developing computational fluid dynamics and graphics software (and doing technical writing), and with
Fenix Solutions as a web developer. In a past life, I've done graphic design and video production.
Interests
I am broadly interested in Computer Science and Software Engineering, particularly programming language and compiler design, parallel and distributed algorithms, high-performance computing (including cache-friendly programming techniques), security and usability. More recently my focus has been on software architecture for large-scale systems in C++. I am very excited for the new features in C++11, especially lambdas, variadic templates and template typedefs.
Miscellanea
I have some terrible videos of personal software projects up on my
Vimeo page. I have a
LinkedIn account on which I strive to be reasonably professional, as well as a
Twitter account on which I do not. I live for good coffee, beer, music and food, and when I play the guitar people tell me to stop. I can do three yo-yo tricks, including the eiffel tower and making the yo-yo come back.
