Hello! I'm a Canadian software developer living in Santa Cruz, California.
To get in touch you can email me at eplawless at this domain.

I am currently at Netflix working on the client for PS3/4, Xbox360, and consumer TV devices. Prior to that I was a lead developer at Big Viking Games working on HTML5 games for mobile, and before that I was at Side Effects Software, where I re-implemented and extended the compiler for our general purpose shading language, VEX.

In the past I've worked for the Carleton Computer Security Lab under Professor Anil Somayaji as a research assistant, with Exocortex Technologies (the creators of, the free online 3D editor) designing and developing computational fluid dynamics and graphics software (and doing technical writing), and with Fenix Solutions as a web developer.

In late 2010 I graduated from Carleton University with an Honours Bachelor of Computer Science degree, receiving Highest Honours for academic achievement. In late 2011 while at Side Effects Software, I was invited to teach one of the lectures in CCPS311 (Introduction to Object-Oriented Design) at Ryerson University. In 2013 I taught two courses in the Advanced Game Development program at Fanshawe College.
